UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship qualifier

Wales have their work cut out if they are to make this summer’s under-19 European Championships after suffering a heavy defeat to England this evening.

A strong home side dominated in all aspects of the game, which was played in Sincil Bank, Lincoln, to lead Group 6 of the second qualifying phase.

Wales, who beat Austria at the weekend to give themselves a chance of qualification, resisted the English threat until the 41st minute.

But three quick-fire goals before the interval – through Bethany England, Nikita Parris and Sherry McCue – gave the favourites a comfortable lead they never looked like surrendering.

Parris completed her hat-trick in the second half, before England grabbed her second.
